Korean Layered Cake for a House-warming Party
I made this injeolmi and red bean layered cake the other day!!

Injeolmi is a kind of rice cake coated in roasted soybean flour (kinako), characteristic of Korean desserts! I combined it with home-made red bean paste (anko), kinako creme mousse and a sponge base to create an Asian-inspired layered cake for my friends’ housewarming party in their new flat!
It’s very exciting to start finding flats with friends and looking forward to a new school year with flatmates who are good friends, and who are also Singaporean and who share similar culture, tastes and preferences!
Salted Caramel Espresso Surprise
On a similar note – I love to bake for my friends and any occasion really – so this salted caramel espresso sheet cake was perfect for my rowing coach’s birthday!

We surprised him after one of our trainings and he loved it! Sheet cakes are super easy to make and I topped it with a salted caramel cream.
Note from the Editor:
Anne Lise never ceases to amaze us with her energy and creativity. It seems like only yesterday when she headed off to London to start her first year at university. Her cooking and baking skills have been an asset to her.
Anne Lise can afford to indulge in sweet desserts. The calories in the salted caramel espresso cake are great to replace the calories used up in rowing!
Sharing meals have always been occasions to socialise, make new friends and increase in social bonding. Anne Lise has made the most of her time and her talents. Her friends are very fortunate, as she loves to share. The reality is that it doesn’t take much to create joy, and joy is diffusive.
