What makes a meal memorable? Well, I suppose there is no one answer for that question. For a foodie it might be the unique taste that satisfies the palate. For some it could be mum’s signature dishes. Perhaps we could agree that we tend to remember meals served on special occasions, because they form part of the special memory.
Feisan, my friend who got married a few months ago, sent photos of the dishes she cooked after getting married. Her husband is a foodie, so he is very fortunate to have married her. She has been contributing to this blog, and her dishes stand out because they are usually very colourful. She doesn’t strike me as a foodie, but as a healthy eater.
Let’s see what she cooked as a newly-wed. Feisan wrote:
- “We were both sick after our wedding. Cooked this for lunch. Doesn’t look very good, but it’s very comforting. Egg tomato soup and rice.”

2. “There was home-made pesto pasta for Friday dinner.”

3. “This was a big hit. Not sure what to call this dish… it’s pork wrapped in enoki mushrooms, in a soy sauce-based soup.”

4. “Sourdough pancakes. I’m on a sourdough-making journey now. But so far, the only thing I can make is sourdough pancakes. Will try to bake a sourdough bread one of these days.”

5. “My mom gifted me an air fryer for my birthday. Been making a lot of roasted chicken. This was marinated in garlic, soy sauce and honey – recipe I learnt in university. They’re so good!”

6. Fried rice made of leftovers. I like playing around with colour.

Yes, looks like Feisan is continuing with colourful dishes.
We wish Feisan Happy Cooking. This blog post will help her to remember the happy cooking days as a newly-wed.
